Leigh Academies Trust is delighted to announce that Milestone Academy has recently been awarded the Investors in Careers Award, in recognition of its excellence in the field of careers education.
The academy is one of a handful of special schools in the UK to achieve this award. The final assessment highlighted the strength of its bespoke careers and related education provision tailored to the individual needs of each student.
Leigh Academies Trust ensures that all of its academies place careers and business related education at the centre of what they do. Each academy has strong business mentoring and curriculum projects and the Trust has recently begun to deliver apprenticeship and supported internship programmes for students.
In addition to Milestone Academy, Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, Wilmington Academy and The Leigh Academy have all received full Investor in Careers accreditation this year.
Nigel Jones, Principal of Milestone Academy, said: “This award perfectly marks the collaboration between Milestone and LAT, as well as accelerating the impact of the work undertaken by the Academy with regards to work experience, work related learning and supported internships”.
Simon Beamish, Chief Executive added: “Leigh Academies trust was recently recognised as one of the UK’s top performing multi-academy trusts by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education. Milestone Academy, one of LAT’s fourteen academies which is already rated outstanding by Ofsted on two occasions, now proves that it is one of the top performing special school in the UK for careers education. Many congratulations and richly deserved.”
